Welcome
Welcome to the blog!
Please let me explain the blog title and what to expect from the site.
Why the Second Half?
One evening I was reading the paper while a football game was on TV. I was aware of the commentary playing out in the back ground but I am not a football fan so it didn’t have my attention.
Suddenly the voice of the commentator became really animated and he began to sound more and more excited “What on earth went on in the dressing room at half time?” He gasped. “This team were not in the game in the first half. They were out classed; disappointing – but look at them now. They have put the first half behind them and they are taking every opportunity. Listen to that crowd roar”
This is the message of the blog.
If you are not getting the success, happiness or satisfaction you want, call “time out” reassess the situation, build on it and do things differently in the second half.
In life you can draw a line and move forward into you your own second half. What is more you get to have as many time outs and second halves as you want.
All that is important is that you enjoy your life!

The 3 Options for Playing the Game of Life
As children we played games for fun. If the game stopped being fun we played something else. As adults we play sport for enjoyment or if we are professional sports people we play for money and enjoyment. I have never heard of a professional sports person who did not enjoy the sport he or she played.
Option 1 – You can choose your own game and its purpose. You can decide the rules that you are prepared to play by and even the league in which you want to play.
Option 2 – You can try to play someone else’s game by their rules. You might find that you feel like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole or you are doing things for the quiet life and to please others.
Option 3 – You can be a spectator. You put others before yourself. You dream of doing things in the future but you never seem to take action.
I want to inspire and assist you to live life by design not by default. Yes sometimes life throws you a curved ball but it is worth considering the Buddhist teaching:-
Pain in life is inevitable but suffering is not.
Pain is what the world does to you; suffering is what you do to yourself.
Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
How to find your way around the Blog
There are 8 categories of posts:-
Strategy: This looks at how you choose your own game and its purpose; How to decide what you want out of life and how to achieve it. What rules are you prepared to play by and how big do you want to play.
Skills: What skills do you need to be successful in life? How can you build on them?
The Inner Game: How you think is the biggest factor on how much success you have in life. Do you talk yourself into or out of success?
Team game: Life is a team game. We live and work with others. If we can deal with people well, even those we think of as “difficult” life gets easier. This will cover relationships, family and colleagues.
Managing your talents: (Coming soon)What are your real strengths and how do these differ from learned behaviours? Are you playing to your strengths or to your weaknesses? What unrealised strengths do you have and how can you uncover them? How can you develop as a person?
Business Game: Our working lives impact on our home life and vice versa. The section looks at career, management and small business.
Self care: To live a happy life I believe that you have to learn to put yourself first in a positive way. In the safety presentation before an aircraft takes off you are always told to put on your own oxygen mask before helping anyone else. If you are not functioning well you can’t help others.
Team Talk: What your coach has to say. Here you will find my general comments and sometimes even the odd rant.
I invite you to come and enjoy the game with me.
